Come join me as I learn about homemaking. Being a stay at home mom has been and is the most rewarding "job" I could have ever been blessed with. I will be adding my creative pursuits and tidbits of interest in the mix. So stay tuned!

Around mid-day, once my oldest gets home from school, I will blow out the candles. I will light them again later towards the evening when I hear from my hubby to let me know he's on his way home. I want the house to smell inviting when he walks in after a long, hard day at work. Working in the military services is not the easiest job out there. So I try to keep things calm here at home. But that isn't always the case with a newborn and 3 others running around. Lol.
During the day, I will get as much cleaning as I can get done. I will have the kids dressed in clean clothes. And hopefully have something taken out to thaw for dinner. If it isn't a growth spurt week or just a fussy day for the newborn, then I have time in the mornings to start preparing supper so that in the evenings when it is not so calm, I can get it going one handed. Usually because I'm nursing as I'm cooking. That is why I get the 2 handed jobs like chopping vegetables. Laundry still isn't in the routine yet, but I'm working on it. Weekends seems to be when I can get the folding done. Baby Pumpkin is only 5 weeks old now. So I'm not really stressing about not being able to get my usual routine done in one day. Right now I can get one day's routine done in one week. It's just the sanity cleaning now. What I call "sanity cleaning" is only the stuff that has to be done in order for me to not lose my mind. It's different for every person. My number 1 biggest, is toys all over the living room floor. They have to be picked up. I do not like my living room floor with toys strewn and left there to step on. What is your number 1 cleaning thing that HAS to be done for you?
I love the picture above with the apples being peeled. I try to imagine what that housewife is preparing the apples for. Does she have kids that need a snack? Is she baking a pie? Or she might be preparing a treat for her husband once he comes home from working out in the fields all day. The grapes in the sink are rinsed and draining to be added to the apples for a light snack to go with lunch. What story does this picture say to you?

My new obsession is YouTube. I have watched how-to's on bread making, laundry soap making, folding a fitted sheet, among many others. You can find a video on just about everything. Did you notice that I said "just about"? That's because I found what You Tubers haven't made a video of! You Tubers is what everyone is called that watches the videos to making the videos. And since there wasn't a video on You Tube for what I was looking for, I made one myself. And what is this video of that I made? It is a video of my Homemaking Binder.
Let me tell you why I made a video of my Homemaking Binder. I am going to update mine. I haven't updated it in 2 years. While most of the routines are the same, a lot of it isn't. I've had 2 more babies since then. So my routine is a little tweaked to accomodate them. I wanted some ideas on what to include or maybe even a new and better way to make it. But there was nothing there. So now there is. My very own little piece of the world. Also my very own You Tube video!! Yay! So please, go check it out and tell me what you think!
I'd also like to ask you how do you have your binder made? What do you include in it?

She's absolutely adorable too! We are getting use to each other and getting our day routine started. My lovely husband went back to work this week and it's just been the kids, the baby, and I trying to get our own rhythm for our days. Growth spurt for week 3 has kicked in and she nurses seems like as soon as I decide to get up or lay her down in her bouncy seat. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will get a routine down and I will be able to lay her down at some point during the day. I'm hoping. But she's so utterly and adorably cute!
I do get to sit down at the computer for a while. And while sitting here, I started perusing the blogs I have saved in my folder of favorites. I came across a new blog and it had the cutest post! The blog is called EKM's Epigrams. Here is the post:
Installing a Husband
Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.
Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate
DEAR DESPERATE,
First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.
Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5,
Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring
Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in thebackground that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)
In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0; program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.
Good Luck Babe!

Now how cute was that?! I am going to have my husband read that when he gets home. I think he will surely get a kick out of it. Go check out her blog!
